Julio Falagán
(Valladolid, 1979)
Graduate from the University of Fine Arts in Salamanca and Higher Technician in Plastic Arts and Design in Illustration in Valladolid.
With a justified lack of respect for that which does not deserve it, I dignify the banal and the obsolete as a starting point to reflect on the social construction and its fissures, questioning any dogma. A plea in favor of the small, the overlooked, and the discarded, exposing grandiloquence and absolute truths.
His work revolves around the questioning of power and the established through the use of humor and irony.
He has received several grants and awards among which stand out: Scholarship from the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome in 2013, Casa Velázquez Scholarship, ART - EX AECID Scholarship for artistic projects abroad. CREART Residency Grant at Atelierhauss Salzamt in Linz, Austria, XV Concurso Encuentros de Arte Contemporáneo Acquisition Award and the Visual Arts Creation Grants from the Community of Madrid.
