Laura Lasheras, better known as "Lusesita", presents a work with a very peculiar language that is undoubtedly characteristic of her. With her disparate influences that range from finding inspiration in the sweetness of a candyfloss to the everyday and anti-aestheticism of a dog peeing, she takes us on a journey where memories, loved ones, nostalgia, but above all, humour, are the key pieces of her work. She is capable of finding the perfect nomenclature between tenderness and the grotesque.
She studied artistic ceramics at the School of Arts and Crafts in Zaragoza. She travelled to Barcelona in 2003 to complete her studies by taking courses on the potter's wheel, enamels and contemporary jewellery.
Lusesita, one of the leading ceramists on the Spanish scene, bases her work on the artistic currents of Art Brut and surrealism. She works with ceramics in an experimental way, establishing a very personal and poetic aesthetic vision; her creatures appear before us showing their teeth, sticking out their tongues, mocking and making gestures with their hundreds of limbs in dissonance with their pastel tones, being able to transmit contradictory sensations such as tenderness, fear and laughter.
The artist not only turns glazed ceramics with ease into pure feeling and provocation in a way rarely seen before, but also paper, with two-dimensional and one-toned works, where she works neatly with shading, giving it a realistic touch, and mixes it with naive strokes, creating a personal style so characteristic of her.
Lusesita's work does not go unnoticed and has been exhibited in Spain and abroad. Paris, Tokyo, Miami, Washington, Seoul, Monterrey and Milan.
