Juan Fernández Álava (Piedras Blancas, Asturias, 1978) is a painter who loves his craft, characterised by following in the inexhaustible wake of artists who have approached the genre of portraiture and landscape, treating it as something mysterious and urgent in continuous renewal. Fernández Álava's painting is based on layers and glazes in which the motifs are usually taken from his immediate surroundings: his daughters, friends, the mountains of Asturias...
He has exhibited his work in national galleries such as La New Gallery in Madrid, Alejandro Sales in Barcelona and Espacio Líquido in Gijón. It has also been seen in venues such as the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, El Centro Niemeyer and Laboral Centro de Arte. He is represented in collections such as the Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, the Los Bragales Collection and the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Collection. In 2020 he curated the exhibition "Pintura en la venas" for the Barjola Museum in Gijón.
