Alberto Amez (Gijón, 1963) creates a figurative painting that cites classical and costumbrista motifs in his themes, assembling scenographies with sketched figures that weave possible allegories and evoked stories. Bizarre and sleepy rural scenes, with a hallucinatory slant, which compose half-forgotten stories with sentimental intensity through the scenery, the figures, the colours and the lighting.
From a distance they are traditional paintings; as we approach them we enter a different world, yet close at the same time, with a welcoming soul. Revival of the painting as an object and artistic fetish, an intellectual and sensorial construct concentrated in a ritual of presentation and contemplation that prolongs Art. He has recently won the XX Bienal de Pintura Nicanor Piñole San Martín del Rey Aurelio Award in 2022 and the Premio de Puntura Ayuntamiento de Valdés. He has exhibited his work in national galleries such as Galería Vértice. Oviedo, Arancha Osoro Gallery. Oviedo or Espacio Liquido. Gijón.
