Aljoscha

(Glukhov, 1974)

"I consider each of my works as a living being," says Aljoscha, "I personally believe that in the future, as a result of a biological revolution, we will use living furniture, live in living houses and travel into space using living stations. But the most exciting thing will be the ability of artists to work with living substances, thus constructing new forms of life. The artistic act will take on the practical meaning of birth".

Aljoscha was born in Ukraine (Glukhov, 1974), now lives between Germany and Spain. After training as an economist, he studied at the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf, where he began his creative development. He opened his first exhibition at the age of 33. Since then he has had more than forty solo exhibitions, from St. Petersburg to Havana, New York, Venice and Vienna. He was awarded the Bancaja Sculpture Prize (2008) and the Schlosspark Sculpture Prize (2009). In 2020 he received a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation in New York.
