Anders Kappel
(1956, Sweden)
Anders Kappel has been making signs for over thirty years. What type of signs you might ask? Basically any type.
Some are very large, others exceptionally small. Most of them are easy to move and carry, mount on walls, or stack in piles, whereas others are virtually impossible to budge, with a couple of examples even slumping towards the ground as if giving way to their own weight. They are made in a variety of materials such as wood, copper, laminate and bronze, and are either brightly colored or left unpainted. They are often provided with text or symbols, but can just as well remain silent. But there is one thing they all have in common. They both reinforce and undermine the concept of the sign itself.
