Ethel Coppieters
(Belgium, 1996)
She studied at the School of Graphic Research in Brussels and one year at the School of Fine Arts in Lisbon.
Ethel Coppieters focuses her pictorial work on female figures. She paints free women inspired by the women around her. As an artist, she seeks to represent the contemporary woman and the modern elements that accompany her. In this way, she creates intimate and universal dreamlike scenes where the bodies have deconstructed proportions. Coppieters explores the limits of traditional canons of beauty and challenges them.
Coppieters' color palette is rich, warm and intense. Her work conveys dreaminess and nostalgia. Coppieters' Venus has a captivating gaze that catches the viewer. Gradually, the protagonist becomes a more dynamic character through dance or trotting.
