Jan Vallverdú (Barcelona, 1995) has a degree in Illustration and Arts applied to the Wall from L'Escola Superior de Disseny i Art Llotja de Barcelona. He works with mixed techniques on medium and large formats. He began his artistic career through mural painting in urban art collectives in Barcelona. Accustomed to working in large formats, his work is characterized by being drawn with strength and presence in any of its multiple supports.
His first solo exhibition was in 2015 at Sala Planeta Bea in Barcelona. In 2019 his first solo exhibition Sense Títol 18×19 at Nau Bostik took place. As a member of Zion Town Kids ZTK he exhibited a painting installation in Escena X, at Espai de Lliure Creació Carme Malaret in Sant Just Desvern. Between 2013 and 2019 he participated in several group exhibitions and in 2020 he was part of the Windows Art Circuit, an initiative of Poblenou Urban District to promote the work of emerging artists. In December of that same year, he participated within the group exhibition La Plataforma: Arte & Venta.
In the words of the artist, "my paintings are part of an imaginary generated by filtering what I perceive around me, both in physical and virtual reality (Internet 2.0). This is the starting point from which I work the process and the pictorial construction. From here, the isms of painting unfold together with its different material and technical possibilities: triggering its alchemy, presence and language. I work on supports of large formats, partly because muralism has acquired an important role in my career, in fact, I started painting in the street and then in the studio and now I try to maintain a balance between the two".
