Juan Naranjo
(Madrid, 1979)
His work is based on the recognition of a basic human need to protect oneself, to isolate oneself in the face of current adverse conditions. To remain under that abstract helmet, that imaginary bubble that isolates you from everything that happens around you, and wraps you up under a subtle, cryogenic world, facing the reality that we live in, fading away in a journey to the interior, facing oneself.
The characters portrayed, in turn, search, investigate, dive and dig into the psyche of the viewer, trying to witness what he or she expects in the outside world. A world full of light but also of shadows. The technique, the colour and the material of the paintings try to make that sensory protection that encapsulates us from the wind outside the outside world, palpable.
