Laia García

Laia Garcia Adell (Barcelona,1997) is a catalan artist that is currently based in ' La Butxaca Màgica' , a self-manged project founded by Rita Sala (Barcelona,1994), also a painter, that consists of a shared art studio and counts with a casual and non-institutional exhibition program, located at the cultural core of Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona.

In 2018, Garcia got graduated at an ' Arts applied to the wall ' degree at ' Llotja, escola superior de disseny i art ' , Barcelona, and since then she has been developing her art practice focusing mainly in oil painting and charcoal drawings.

Her biggest influences come from fantastic and grotesque art, as well as from traditional oil painting masters and contemporary artists. Her artworks often approach contrast and image ambivalence: she is interested in technique but also in emotions and its irreverence, she now loves softness and then overlapses it with an abrupt brushstroke.
