Luis Olaso

Luis Olaso (Bilbao, 1986) is a visual artist whose journey began as a self-taught creative and later solidified through his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). His work oscillates between expressive figuration and abstraction, establishing a distinctive style that dynamically explores the interplay of form and color.
His work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions, both solo and group, in international galleries such as JD Malat Gallery in London, Makasiini Contemporary in Finland, Galería Juan Manuel Lumbreras in Bilbao, Mirat Projects in Madrid, and Galería KUR in San Sebastián. He has also participated in notable art fairs, including Zona Maco in Mexico, Estampa in Madrid, Contemporary Istanbul, Untitled Miami, Art Montecarlo, Art Madrid, and the Cerveira International Art Biennial, achieving significant international visibility.
The artist's works are part of prominent public and private collections, including the Contemporary Art Foundation of Yusaku Maezawa in Tokyo, the SIMCO Foundation of Stefan Simchowitz, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the VELATIA Collection, the Luis de Morales Collection in Badajoz, and the Santander Creativa Foundation.
His career has earned recognition in various competitions, being a finalist in prestigious awards such as the Reina Sofía Painting and Sculpture Prize, the City of Badajoz Painting Prize, the Ibercaja Young Painting Prize, and the Focus International Painting Prize, among others.
