Lusesita
(Spain, 1979)
Laura Lasheras (Calahorra, La Rioja, 1979) pursued a degree in Artistic Ceramics at the School of Arts and Crafts in Zaragoza. She traveled to Barcelona in 2003 to further her studies, taking courses in pottery, glazing, and contemporary jewelry.
Lusesita is Laura Lasheras, one of the leading ceramists in the Spanish scene. She works with ceramics experimentally, creating collections of objects and sculptures that blur the line between utility and conceptual art, establishing a highly personal aesthetic vision: poetic and pastel-toned with a hint of creepiness.
Ceramics. Art Brut. Surrealism. Tradition and modernity. Her work is evocative, transforming glazed ceramics into pure poetry. An ancient material shaped into impossible forms. It’s pure emotion. She draws inspiration from personal experiences and past events. Antique ceramics and African art move her deeply, stating that ceramics have allowed her to connect with her most primitive side. For her, everyone should work with their hands. She finds it rewarding, liberating, and immensely pleasurable. She also blends ceramics with textile materials, intrigued by the clash of materials. She has exhibited both in Spain and abroad, including Paris, Tokyo, Miami, Washington, Seoul, Monterrey, and Milan.
