Nano Abia
(Spain, 1978)
Nano 4814 began to develop his creative work as Nano, taking his first steps in the Spanish graffiti scene of the 90s, as well as in music originally linked to that subculture. After graduating in Fine Arts at the University of Pontevedra, he spent a brief period of training in London, studying at schools such as Saint Martins School of Arts or the London College of Printing. In 2004 he moved to Madrid to develop his artistic work and began to exhibit in galleries and institutions in and outside Spain. Nano's work is experiential and expands far beyond painting. His interests and references in visual culture encompass a large catalogue of images that he then superimposes and extrapolates on flat supports and in delicate three-dimensional pieces in which the trees do not let us see the forest. It is the consented deception of an explorer who asks to be explored. An entomologist of reality. As Rafael Schacter points out, "in his work we can observe complex dynamic compositions of multiple figurative, anthropomorphic, although almost abstract forms. Bodies superimposed or fused, mixing with each other in a precarious balance that we do not know if it is a fight or help, copulation or rejection. (…) Nano is the creator of a stylistic friction, of a public, poetic and aesthetic masquerade. He is the rogue, the trickster, he is the modern incarnation of the archetype of the trickster
