Rafa Chinchilla
(Spain, 1992)
Graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Seville (2014), Rafael Chinchilla is recognized for his political and ironic approach to contemporary art. With a Master’s degree in Art: Idea and Production (2015) from the same institution, his artistic practice has been enriched by specialized courses in contemporary art.
Throughout his career, Chinchilla has received various accolades, including the award at the XVI Encuentros de Arte Contemporáneo (EAC 2016) in Alicante, an artist residency at Sala Guirigai (2016), and recognition in Contemporarte(2018).
His work has been showcased in solo exhibitions such as Poco que ver en Otra Cosa (2018) and Loser (2018), as well as in national and international group exhibitions, including the University of Alicante Museum, the Center for Contemporary Creation of Andalusia (C3A), and the Museum and Center for Humanistic Studies at the Ana G. Méndez University in Puerto Rico.
Additionally, he has been a finalist in prominent competitions such as the National Visual Arts Competition of the University of Seville and the Premi de Pintura Miquel Viladrich. His work reflects a strong interest in exploring humor, cultural critique, and social interaction—topics he has also addressed in publications like El humor como salida in the Journal of Arts and Visual Culture.
