Sunwoo Kim

Born in 1988, Sunwoo Kim is an artist from Seoul, South Korea. He obtained his master’s degree from Dongguk University in 2017, after earning a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the same institution in 2015.
Kim frequently uses the image of the extinct dodo bird from Mauritius in his work as a motif to explore dreams and freedom. His vibrant canvases offer a humorous perspective on contemporary art.
Through the dodo, Kim conveys the message of infinite dreams, possibilities, and freedom. His main method of working appears in the form of traditional painting, but he is seeking to expand his practice through various endeavors, such as public art projects and collaborations with brands.
Since starting his artistic career in 2014, Kim has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including 18 solo exhibitions, and is expanding his activities through residencies abroad and participation in art fairs. Additionally, his works are part of various prestigious public and private collections.
