With this series Pérez-Jofre generates an interesting visual paradox: the surface of the fragile and shapeless rubble of what were strong constructions, symbol of human power, becomes a support to represent pictorially the coronation of other similar buildings. Thanks to the fact that the artist uses rubble as a medium for his paintings, they become artistic objects that allude to the buildings whose destruction they symbolize. In the artist's own words: "Painting a building on the rest of a demolition, shows the perishability of that construction, now solid and upright. In this sense, this work can be understood as a vanitas. The support alludes metonymically to the destroyed building. And the building which, intact, is represented in the pictorial medium, is thus threatened, projected into a future ruin".
