Galerie Heike Strelow
()
Since the gallery was founded in 2007 the gallery program has consisted in an alternation of curated solo and group shows combining young and emerging artistic positions with well established artists. The gallery values particularly the close collaboration with the artists in establishing the ground and the conditions in which their artworks are being presented to the broader public and the market. The artist’s individuality and the variety of artworks which result from the expression of this individuality occupy therefore a central role in the gallery program and policy.
Galerie Heike Strelow represents artistic positions which, independently of transitory trends, focus on concepts that pursue both innovative and forward-looking approaches, both formally and in terms of content.
The gallery developed from the “Projektbüro für Kunst und Kultur”, established by the curator and art historian Heike Strelow in 1997. The office, focusing on art in public space and fostering the public discourse, resulted in the development of numerous international collaborations with artists, initiatives, and institutions. The gallery was a continuation of this project, and many of the artists with whom the project collaborated, are now represented by the gallery. Since 2008, Edition Strelow und Meister has complemented the program, and since 2018, the gallery has been working closely with Strelow & Walter projects, which Heike Strelow founded together with Kerstin Walter. The focus here is on communicating the content of art.
